▣ Abstract

In the past few decades, there has been considerable investment in robotics research. However, despite the wide-scale implementations of industrial robots, there have been very few successful applications of interactive robots in human proximity, since high-performance yet safe robot manipulation creates formidable challenges in actuation, sensing, and control. In order to address these challenges, the speaker introduces a paradigm-shifting approach: Human-centered robotics. In this talk, the speaker will introduce key research interests in human-centered robotics, including robot safety analysis, design methodologies, soft mechanisms/actuators, and safe human-robot interaction. In addition, the speaker will discuss several ongoing projects carried out in Human Robotics Lab in Yonsei University.
