Microfluidic chip for rapid and selective isolation of tumor-derived extracellular vesicles for early diagnosis and metastatic risk evaluation of breast cancer (2021. 07. 09)

Professor Hyo-Il Jung's research team in the Department of Mechanical Engineering has developed a microfluidic chip that can separate and concentrate two types of cancer-derived extracellular vesicles within 7 minutes. The diagnostic sensitivity of the existing biomarker-based early breast cancer detection in blood was about 23-30%, but when the chip developed in this study was used, the diagnostic sensitivity was increased to 90%. The chip could be extended as a powerful clinical tool for the analysis of various diseases besides cancer. This study was published online on July 9, 2021, in the international scientific journal Biosensors and Bioelectronics (Impact factor: 10.618, 2020 JCR, top 3.01%).
