A Stretchable Strain-insensitive Tactile Sensor Array without Crosstalk Effect (2023.02.20)

Kyubin Bae, a doctoral student from Professor Jongbaeg Kim in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, has been awarded the Silver Prize in the Mechanical Engineering Division of the 29th Samsung Humantech Paper Award. Established in 1994 to recognize outstanding young scientists, this competition is hosted by Samsung Electronics.
The research team introduced an original technology called "tactile sensor that eliminates interference between tension and adjacent cells." The fabricated sensor has been recognized for its superior performances such as high sensitivity and wide sensing range. The developed sensor has been shown to selectively detect pressure information in an environment where large deformation occurs, such as human joints, indicating its potential use in the health monitoring field, a next-generation industry.
