High-performance computing is playing an increasing role in bioengineering and life sciences. This is spurred by advances in experimental modality, ranging from single-molecule force spectroscopy to a new cohort of imaging technologies. The resulting data are large in amount and/or high in spatiotemporal resolution, which necessitates computational modeling and analysis to extract meaningful information. In this talk, I will give a brief overview of the current projects in my lab, including T-cell mechano-immunology, HIV antibody dynamics, molecular recognition by viral proteins, and image-based model building. These efforts help with understanding mechanisms underlying experimental observations, which in turn provide guidance to developing therapeutic strategies in relevant diseases.
