▣ 초 록

Nature, such as plants, insects, and marine animals, uses micro/nano-textured surfaces in their components (e.g., leaves, wings, eyes, legs, and skins) for multiple purposes, such as water-repellency, anti-adhesiveness, and self-cleanness. Such multifunctional surface properties are attributed to three-dimensional surface structures with modulated surface wettability. For example, hydrophobic surface structures create a composite interface with liquid by retaining air between the structures, minimizing the contact area with liquid. Such non-wetting surface property, so-called superhydrophobicity, can offer numerous application potentials for aerospace systems, such as anti-icing and anti-corrosion. However, the approach based on superhydrophobicity has a few drawbacks in real applications such as the depletion of the air layer at the interface and the mechanical durability of the surface structures. To overcome such issues, lubricant-infused surfaces such as oil-impregnated porous surfaces have also recently been explored for such applications, where the water-immiscible lubricating liquid, i.e., oil, is infused into the porous structures to replace the air. In this talk, the designs, fabrications, and applications of both the superhydrophobic and liquid-infused surfaces for aerospace systems will be presented, including anti-icing and anti-corrosion. In the end, the surface modification via additive manufacturing, especially powder-fed direct energy deposition (DED) technique will be addressed to enhance the mechanical properties and thermal conductivity of metal.
